We’ve all managed to build so many personal walls already, that many of us can’t even see anyone else’s pain or differences. We write more music. Political discomfort is at every dinner table and fear of the future keeps us from actually living today. We write more music. Families are broken from ignorant words constantly spoken. We write more music. Some individuals face the biggest fears in quarantine. Domestic abuse being one of them. This season has been tender, to say the least. Stay strong and dig deep. What are they up to Now?
Brineaboy’s debut full-length record titled Criminal is weeks away from being released. This is currently being mixed by Chris Grainger. Think assorted, downtempo beats with music melodies and vocals that twist between dark and light. Some songs are airy and shiny that float above all things dark. The track titling the record, honestly faces tension between regret and self-confidence. One song Jumpsuit is in honor of fortifying a good friend who experienced heartache from someone who didn’t deserve her love. Then, getting comfortable in your own skin with delicately laced sonic feels with a song titled Cool Around. Lyrics: “…what you bring is what you have on…” Brineaboy has felt the intensity of every inch of this record. Importante reflects how every human carries the necessary part and importance of existence. Life and death are inevitable. Brineaboy hopes this collection of songs will lighten, brighten and fortify the backbones of listeners. Sometimes we swim out into the dark ocean and then exit with more relief & gratitude. We are awakened from the intensity.

New music video to be released February 2019
It’s been a while of ”cult-ivating” a sound that felt just right. Buckets of songs and sorting out who would direct the next video, Doug Lehmann came to the forefront of the duo’s mind. His unique connection to aesthetics, that are usually black and white driven, Doug turned a scheme of acidic colors, psychedelic layers and trippy graphics to accompany Brineaboy’s dark and thumpy, dance single “Freeway.” Keeping the behind-the-scenes location entirely in a mini-van, this is a fun expression within tight quarters. But sometimes it only embellishes the creepy undertone of minor keys, airy harmonies, sleep deprived beats and the unsatisfied stories told through lyrics. It moves everyone more fluidly and “along for the ride” to a place we’ve all been before. This is the special world of Halloween.
